Kamran was a wonderful brother, son and uncle. He had his whole life ahead of him which got taken away from from so suddenly.
He had just started his new job and had just completed three days of work. Just as normal on 21st August 2003 he finished his day of work and came home. After having a shower and eating something he decided to go with his friend to the local fair at Wardown Park Luton. I can still visualise him playing with his two nieces while he waited for his friend to meet him up the road. He kissed them bye and went out.
There was intense tension between two groups of Asian and West Indian boys during the day at the park. Kamran was freends with the Asian boys who where at the Park in the evening as well.
The West Indian lads, as a result of an argument during the day, got together a large group to attend the park for further confrontation in the evening. Kamran was with one of the Asian boys on one of the rides at the time the West Indians reached the park they were armed and they were there to cause serious harm.
Some of the West Indians knew Kamran and some were not familiar with him. The lads who were involved during the day pointed from a distance towards Kamran and his Friend. Imitation Fire Arms were shot and people in the park ran across all directions. The West Indians who knew the asians during the day ran after them and the ones who did not know who was who ran after Kamran thinking it was him.
Kamran alone ran into a wooded area, was soon aproached by a gang of 15 youth. He was severly beaten and stabbed in numerous parts of his body. The fatal wound was then inflicked by a lad called Emanuel Langley he was armed with a large knife and he stabbed him right through his right leg severing his largest artery. As a result, Kamran started to bleed intensly, even after being stabbed he still fought with these lads. After realising the damage they caused they all ran away leaving him bleeding to death.
After sometime Kamran's friend who had gone to the park with Kamran and was Kamrans very close friend, came to search for him. Kamran was lying in a pool of blood and he franticly tried to revive him. There were other people who tried to stop the bleeding until the ambulance came.
When the ambulance came they waited outside the park for the Armed Response Unit to come and make the park safe to enter, because of the gun shots. By the time the paramedics came into the park Kamran had lost alot of blood and had suffered from a heart attack.
Kamran was taken to Luton and Dunstable Hospital and under went major surgery that night. He was in intensive care for 10 days. Kamran's two brothers were abroad at that time had came back on the 23rd August 2003 to join the bedside vigil held by all Kamran's Family and Friends.
People all over Luton who knew Kamran and his family prayed for him to survive, but everything is in Allah (swt's) hands, he had only brought with him a short and wonderful life. He passed away on 29th August 2003 at 2:35am. Leaving his family devastated.
His killers where let of with very lenient sentences. 9 men in total got charged. Emanuel Langley was charged with only manslaughter and was released from jail in April 2005 and the rest were out well before him.
Their sentences are over but ours will never end.
Insh'Allah may he be blessed with the gardens of paradise and may Allah grant you and your family ease in all your affairs.x
